  • Hypoallergenic and safe

LD50 (cat, intravenous): 0.22 g/kg
LD50 (mouse, intraperitoneal): 0.34 g/kg
LD50 (rabbit, intravenous): 0.25 g/kg
LD50 (rat, intraperitoneal): 0.39 g/kg

It is almost completely non-irritating and non-toxic at the concentrations normally used as pharmaceutical additives.

  • Excellent reducing ability and antioxidant performance

Not only can it be used as a stabilizer and antioxidant for antibiotics, but it can also be used permanent wave solutions because its excellent reducing ability causes it to cut the SS bonds in hair.
It also reduces metal oxides and is widely used as a metal rust preventive and rust remover.

  • Renders materials soluble that are generally insoluble in water (Fig. 1)

A water-soluble functional group can be created for water-insoluble compounds, via S (sulfur).
(Difficulties may be presented by certain substrates.)

  • Has antibacterial effects

It can also be used as an antibacterial preservative.

  • Has high chain transfer ability

It can be used as a polymerization regulator in the radical polymerization of water-soluble vinyl monomers.
