We aim to fundamentally solve social issues derived from “water.”
Water issues remain a significant global challenge that has yet to be resolved.
We believe that the root cause of these water problems lies in the current “centralized water purification facility-based infrastructure,” which relies on “rain,” “pipelines,” and “chlorine.” Since 2007, we have been conducting research and development to solve these issues.
As a result, we have successfully developed innovative technologies that significantly enhance purification functions and miniaturize the system, leading to the creation of a “distributed micro water source infrastructure” that uses air as a water source.
We have released Mugensui, a compact infrastructure device equipped with these technologies.

Technologies Equipped in Mugensui

Mugensui is not just a water server.
It is a terminal for the “future distributed micro water source infrastructure.”

Mugensui is a hybrid product equipped with the following proprietary technologies:

  1. Generating water from air
  2. Purifying and sterilizing river water, rainwater, and other external water sources
  3. Long-term storage without degradation inside the tank

1. Technology for Generating Water from Air

Mugensui replicates the principle by which clouds—responsible for producing rain—are formed within a machine.
It can generate up to 33 liters per day for the small model and 5 tons per day for the large model.
This technology allows for water supply even in areas without existing infrastructure, making water infrastructure independent of rainfall.

2. Purification and Sterilization Technology for External Water Sources (No Chlorine Used)

Mugensui purifies and sterilizes various external water sources, such as river water, rainwater, and bathwater, making them as safe as tap water.
Even the small model of Mugensui can purify 600 liters of water per day, which is useful for providing water to many people in times of disaster.

  • Evidence has shown that it can maintain sterile water standards even when using only the polluted river water in Tokyo for a month.
  • Conventional high-performance filters and UV sterilization alone cannot eliminate bacteria and microorganisms.

3. Long-Term Storage Technology (No Chlorine Used)

Water begins to develop bacteria as soon as it is exposed to air.
While UV sterilization is commonly used, it is insufficient to prevent bacterial growth.
Mugensui’s proprietary storage technology ensures that even air-exposed water can be maintained at tap water standards for an extended period.

  • Evidence has shown that water stored for six months inside the Mugensui tank remained in a sterile state.

4. Circulating Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane Filtration Technology

RO membranes are known to have the finest filtration in the world. However, they typically produce three times the amount of wastewater, which makes them unsuitable for portable devices without drainage systems.
Mugensui, however, incorporates proprietary technology that enables the use of RO membranes without producing wastewater.
This allows it to completely remove harmful substances like PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and carcinogenic trihalomethanes derived from chlorine in tap water.

※ Patent for technology ① obtained in 2011, while patents for ② to ④ are pending.

Expanding Applications of Mugensui

The compact device Mugensui, equipped with these technologies, is increasingly being adopted by businesses, municipalities, and individuals for purposes such as SDGs initiatives, decarbonization, and BCP (Business Continuity Planning) measures.

【Achievements】

  • Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture:
A co-creation project between the government and private enterprises is underway to simultaneously achieve “disaster water source security” and “decarbonization.”

    • The project is featured on Tomioka City’s official website.
    • The initiative was covered in an NHK news program.
  • Tokyo’s Remote Islands Project:
Selected for the co-creation project aimed at solving issues faced by remote islands in Tokyo.

    • Our company name is listed on Tokyo’s official website.
  • Bibai City, Hokkaido:
Implemented an infrastructure-type WATERMAKER system for disaster response and water supply in trailer houses under a disaster prevention agreement.

Additionally, we are starting new business initiatives by integrating ENELL’s technology into various industries that utilize water.
