This tester is performed in order to determine the water repellent of textile surface structures. This apparatus is also called the Bundesmann Rain Tester, already recognized as informative reference test method in the Japanese Industrial Standard.
Four specimens are simultaneously subjected to simulated rain in one testing cycle and also moved in the artificial shower throughout the test.
The underside of the specimens not exposed to the rain is subjected to regular rubbing action.
This test reproduces pretty accurately the conditions to which utility articles made from water repellent impregnated textiles are subjected in actual use.
