Paddle dryers are widely utilized in various industries for drying powders and granules, such as synthetic resins, sludge, food, and chemical products. The most remarkable feature of the paddle dryer is the independently developed wedge-shaped heat-transfer blade (paddle vane). For many years, it has been the epitome of groove-type agitating and drying equipment, delivering outstanding performance not only in Japan but also around the world.
Features
- This equipment has a large heat transfer area per unit volume, making it compact.
- The wedge-shaped blades bite into the powder to promote contact with the heat-transfer surface, and the powder’s large degree of disruption allows for a large heat transfer coefficient. The filling ratio can be as high as 85% to 90%, allowing effective use of the heat transfer area.
- Adhesion is prevented and controlled by the mutual motion of two overlapping wedge-shaped blades. Therefore, effective heat transfer is always maintained.
- Narrow residence time distribution prevents uneven drying.
- Operation is possible with a small amount of carrier gas, so the equipment such as a dust collector can be compactly installed. This is a particularly significant advantage in solvent recovery for use in inert gas closed circuits.
- Muddy or sticky materials with high water content can be treated.
- Since the system can be operated under reduced pressure, continuous drying of weakly thermophilic materials is possible by taking advantage of the boiling point drop.
- By using oil as the heating medium, treatment at high temperatures (up to 290°C) is also possible.
