Conductive, Light-absorbing, Heat Generating Acrylic Fiber Corebrid™ B – Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation
Corebrid B is an acrylic staple fiber with a conductive sheath-core structure and light-absorbing heat generating property.
Inserting a high concentration of conductive and light-absorbing heating particles into the core creates a higher level of performance in comparison with fibers inserted using traditional methods.
Characteristics

Benefits of Short Staple Fibers
- Short Staple fibers are ideal as raw materials for spun and non-woven fabric (dry or wet-spun) .
- Mixing with other staple fibers such as wool, cotton, and aramid fibers(heat-resistant and strong synthetic fibers) at different ratios enables such fibers to have conductive and heat-generating properties.
- There are more fiber ends in staple fibers than in filaments so it is more likely to have corona discharges which improves antistatic property.

*Corona discharge refers to the continuous discharging of extremely weak current of several µA into the atmosphere from pointed electrodes. Corebrid B is a conductive fiber with fiber ends acting as pointed electrode ends to facilitate corona discharges.
Conductive Property
Corebrid B is nearly as conductive as metal-coated fiber due to the high density of carbon-based conducive particles in the core.
- The single fiber resistivity is 4.25 x 101Ω,cm (3.3 dtex type)

Current flows through this fiber more easily as this value decreases.

Solar Energy-Heat Conversion Performance
Black heat-generating particles are inserted into the cores of Corebrid B fibers to absorb and convert a wide range of frequencies of sunlight including ultraviolet light, visible light, and infrared light into heat.
As this fiber can absorb infrared light, which has high penetration, this fiber has particularly excellent heat-generating performance even when used in layered clothing, padding, and linings.
- General black-dyed fibers
These fibers absorb visible light and so are black in appearance, but absorb nearly zero infrared light.

Comparison of light-absorbing heat generating performance in fabrics
In comparison with general acrylic fibers, Corebrid B absorbs more solar energy and converts this energy into heat more quickly.
Light-absorbing heat generating fibers: Heat generating performance with reflector lamp irradiation
Internal temperatures of different fabrics were measured while exposed to a 300 W reflector lamp at a distance of 30 cm.

Heat Generating Performance in Layered Garments, Paddings and Linings
Corebrid B absorbs light efficiently including infrared light, which is highly penetrative. For this reason, this fiber generates heat even with light that only passes through the surface fabric.

Heat Generating Performance in Layered Garments
Internal temperatures of different fabrics were measured while exposed to a 300 W reflector lamp at a distance of 30 cm.
The fiber has excellent heat generating even with layered garments such as fleece.
