Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I use it?

A. Cut the cabbage into 1/2 or 1/4 slices, remove the core, and place it in the drum with the cut end down. After that, just turn on the switch and it will slice. Use the adjustment knob to adjust the cabbage thickness.

Q. What is the rated usage time?

A. About 60 minutes. If the machine is used for a long time, the motor temperature will rise and the machine will automatically stop (thermal protector). Please wait for about 30 minutes for the motor temperature to cool down.
It is better to turn off the machine before the motor stops automatically to avoid stress on the motor.

Q. What is the processing capacity?

A. The machine can process 15 cabbages in about 10 minutes, and since it can be used continuously for 60 minutes, it can process about 90 cabbages.

Q. What else can be cut besides cabbage?

A. Spring cabbage and lettuce can be cut. Onions will roll around in the drum if the machine is used as it is, so please use the special attachment. (Option: ¥20,000-)

Q. When do I use the weight?

A. When there are only a few cabbages left at the end, gather the cabbages from the three feeding ports into one place. (The attached weight is one.) *The weight is made of gypsum.

*The weight is made of gypsum and is set at 1200g. Please use it as it is without adding water.

Q. Can the drum be used upside down?

A. No, it cannot. If the drum is worn or damaged, replace it with a new one.

Q. How do I wash it?

A. Remove the drum and round blade and wash with water. Wash the main body with a small amount of water (pour gently from above with a pitcher or a pail) from the top, and be sure to wipe thoroughly with a dry cloth.

*Do not use hot water over 60 degrees Celsius. Spraying water from the side of the main unit or leaving water under (behind) the main unit may cause the motor to malfunction. Also, please do not use a hose.

Q. How do I remove the blade?

A. Remove the drum and insert the supplied stopper pin into the pin hole of the round blade to secure the round blade so that it will not move. Loosen the blade attachment knob under the blade until it comes off, insert the screw at the tip of the blade attachment knob into the hole in the center of the blade, and lift the blade off.

Q. How do I remove the drum?

A. Hold the drum lightly with both hands and turn it clockwise about 1/5 of the way. Lift it straight up.

*Turn 1/5 turn to align the groove under the drum shaft with the spring pin on the body side. Forcibly removing it may break it.

Q. How do I use the blade sharpener?

A.
1. Remove the drum and return the thickness adjustment knob to the zero position so that the round blade and the gauge plate (on which the drum rests) are level. 2.
Slightly loosen the knob on the grinding wheel cover and raise the hinge to reveal the grinding wheel. 3.
Push the grinding unit toward the blade with the lever under the grinding wheel, set the grinding unit so that the blade is held by the grinding wheel, and tighten the loosened knob. 4.
While turning on the switch and rotating the blade, push the lever under the grinding wheel toward the blade to grind the underside of the blade. Conversely, pull the lever toward you to remove the “burrs” from the upper side of the blade.
* Always remove the grinding wheel from the blade after use. (The wheel will last longer if it is stored unattached from the machine when not in use.)

Q. How much should I apply the grinding stone?

A. Grind mainly on the lower side of the blade. Press the lever lightly 2 to 3 times. On the upper side, pull the lever once to remove “burrs.

*Please be careful not to press too hard, as it may break the wheel.

Q. What is the standard time for polishing?

A. It depends on your care and cutting discretion. (As a general guideline, please polish the blade once after cutting 50 cabbages.)

Q. Do you offer blade polishing?

A. Yes, we do.

Q. The cabbage is not cut well…?

A. Please grind the blade. (The same applies if it cuts thin or thick even if the thickness is adjusted, or if it only cuts on one side of the drum)

Q. Why do you core the cabbage first when putting it in?

A. If you cut without removing the core, the cabbage will be shredded with the core still attached, and it will be a hassle to remove it later. It is more efficient to remove the core first.
